Why, the GB will of course do what all the other anointed ones have been doing since they were resurrected in 1919. They will go on the "Millennial Kingdom Rulership" school that Jesus started in 1919. At this loving theocratic arrangement provided by Jehovah for the brotherhood, the GB will receive personalised tuition and instruction by brothers Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, Franz, and Henschel...oh and Jesus himself will make the occasional guest appearance....on how to stop being such legalistic, pompous asses and how to be humble, truthful, compassionate Christians reigning during the millennial reign. There is no lunch or tea provided at this school....all attendees must bring their own.

An apparent drift in WTS dates
by Doug Mason inaccording to the wts library cdrom, the watchtower, august 1 2005, page 12 provides a table of the kings of judah and israel.. i decided to reproduce the table and add two columns.
my first additional column shows the conventionally accepted date and the second additional column shows the difference between the wtss date and the conventional date for each listed king.. as expected, since the final event listed is the destruction of jerusalem, that difference is about 20 years.
i had expected this difference would be maintained throughout the table.

If Adam did not sin, would humans have lived forever on earth?
by jwfacts inthe new testament talks consistently of a heavenly hope, not an earthly one and the idea that humans are to live forever on earth is not supported scripturally at all.. however, what would have happened if adam and eve had not sinned.
the watchtower likes to make the point that it is only sin that caused adam and eve to die.
romans 5:12 that is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.. what do christians believe regarding this scripture?

It is nonsense to say that the New Testament does not teach or at least strongly allude to living forever on earth. Revelation 20 through to 22, for example, can be used very persuasively to defend the position that humankind, the majority of them, will eventually live forever on earth. For example, the river of water of life flows down from heaven to the earth, and the trees for the curing of the nations are more likely to be a symbol for something occuring on earth, not in heaven. Why would those in heaven need curing?
The reason the NT speaks mainly about the heavenly hope is because it was something so new and special that God was doing. Humans going to heaven is always portrayed as a special reward, not all of mankinds destiny.
As for Adam and Eve, if they had personally not eaten of the tree of knowledge of good and bad then it would have been one of their offspring, or the next generation after that. It was only a matter of time before Satan induced someone to disobey and rebel. But Satan was so crafty he had immediate success. So its a bit simplistic to say that if Adam and Even hadn't have eaten of the tree of knowledge of good and bad then humans would have lived forever. If Satan had not managed to persuade Adam and Even to eat but had, say, managed to persuade Cain, then Adam and Eve would have continued living (and anyone else who resisted Satan) but Cain and all his descendants (and anyone else who ate from the tree) would have died.

i'm trying to show my wife that the wts is wrong on the 607 date.
i told her that no respected scholar agrees with that date.

Well JosephMalik, of the 'throw the baby out with the water' class, if most of what the JW's teach is trash then where does that leave the rest of the churches, who teach even worse trash with their trinity nonsense, completely unscriptural immortal soul bollox, and their hellfire crap. They are all teaching trash, the lot of them, but the JW's have got some big things right.

99% of JW's would never have perceived that as anything close to being "new light". They would just mean it to be that the GC walk 'in step' with Jesus or something like that, not signifying a shift in thought that the GC are in union with Christ the same as the anointed are.
Anyway, now that the numbers of the anointed (memorial partakers) have started to increase rather dramatically in the last couple of years and the generation has just been redefined to mean that class (of anointed remnant partakers since 1914), there is no need for the Society to blur the distinction.

Thanks for confirming what I already suspected from the previews. Actually I can't stand Will Smith anyway...he just has too much of the "Fresh Prince of Bell Air" type comedian about him. Miscast in serious movies like this. A.I. was great however (+ no Will Smith). I ROBOT sucked!

What next?
by jefferywhat inso in the last year two major qfr came out, one on the fds not being any more special than the gc in terms of enlightenment and the second being that 1935 is no longer a "thing".
this was followed up with a change of the generation being the fds.
then numbers go up this year and apparently, alot of the new converts in the fertile lands of mexico are claiming to be of the anointed.

Whatever changes they make it is totally reactionary. "New Light" is really nothing more than the Society being forced to admit their mistakes, more often than not through the march of time catching up with them, or through some organic change or situation that has developed in the worldwide brotherhood, eg, memorial partakers increasing substantially in the last few years.
If the partakers keeps going up at the rate it has in the last few years, the Society will eventually be forced to reconsider whether the 144,000 is literal or symbolic, but it would be years away.
I believe that after 2014 comes and goes, many JW's who have been barely hanging on will finally decide to give it up. Meeting attendance and donations could fall off dramatically. So we are not likely to see any changes of any real significant until at least 2015.

Observation of WT during Assembly
by Robert7 inso i recently attended an assembly day, and this added ammo as to why i am turned off:
- they did a very good job saying how anything that is not 'of jehovah' is worldly and from the devil.
so black & white.

Where's Jesus? Compare how much the first century Christians, like Paul, preached Jesus and how much the Watchtower society does.
The Watchtower Society is an IDOL that has usurped the honour that is due to Jesus. It has produced nothing but 6.6million Watchtowerites worshipping the Watchtower IDOL, not genuine Christians.

Good JW Growth for 2007
by voltaire indear all,.
i don't see that anyone has commented on the 2007 report.
i must say i was surprised with the impressive growth, not only worldwide, but in the developing countries which have seen some decrease in the last few years.

I think it shows that no matter how much bad publicity the organisation gets & no matter how many apostates there are out there trashing the org, it will always get growh as long as the GB can stir up the feeling that Armageddon is close and there is a bit of accompanying doom n gloom in the news. The GB have been pounding the fear drums hard lately and it is paying off for them. Just look at the 2008 yeartext. As long as they keep creating that fearful sense of expectation that something big is around the corner, they will keep increasing. We live in a very fearful, harsh world and this plays right into the GB's hands. Many people are fleeing to religion for comfort and the JW's are benefiting from this mini revival in religionism.
In some ways, this 3.1% blip, against all odds, is proof positive that the religion is really nothing more than a fear-based, doomsday cult full of mind-controlled, brain-washed fearful people. All they care about is the vain illusion that being a JW will save their ass at Armageddon & they will get the 'prize' of living in their fantasy paradise earth. That's what motivates 90% of them. Truth & righteousness comes a distant second.

How many JW's are leaving the the org each year - is the figure rising?
by Must obey! ini think i've seen clever posters work out how many leave the organisation each year, or at least stop being 'publishers'.
how many have been leaving each year since 2000?

How about an alternative annual worldwide report that shows the 'real' picture. This would make a really good tonic to counteract the rather depressing news that JW's have had a 3.1% increase in publishers in 2007.
